Philosophy of Education
Every child deserves a place where they can feel seen, heard, and loved. Too often, home is not that environment for children. I want to be a support system for every child that enters my classroom, not just academically, but emotionally. I believe my role as an educator is a crucial one. Children need to have a system of people who have their best interest in mind and are going to help lead them on the path to success. As an educator, while it is my job to instruct children in academic content, it is so much more than that. It is my job to encourage them and lead them down the right path not only in academic success but in growing up into individuals who understand and practice respect, empathy, and kindness. I believe that every child deserves the same fighting chance at a fulfilling life.
I want to foster a love for learning and a desire to grow their knowledge for the betterment of themselves. A love for education starts young. It is much harder to have a true love for learning if your primary years were filled with negative experiences. I want to contribute to the reason why they have a positive relationship with school.
School is much more than learning how to read and write, add and subtract. It is about learning how to communicate, how to express and cope with emotions, and how to be kind to others and yourself. While academic content is important. Academic knowledge will only get you so far. Learning the skills that you use and will continue to use in your future is just as important.
